The fidmarseille 2005 selection committee


We have received 1,395 films for this year’s FIDMarseille festival. We would like to thank all the filmmakers and producers who have shown their faith in us by submitting their works for selection. Viewing of films for preliminary selection will soon be finished. The selection committee will meet during the next few weeks to choose 20 films for the international Competition and 10 films for the French Competition.

Frédéric Sojcher’s Cinéastes à tout prix (shown at FIDMarseille 2004) is in its sixth week at the "L'Entrepôt" cinema in Paris’s 14th arrondissement. Discussions continue on the subject of the film and the questions that it raises.


Valérie Jouve’s Grand Littoral, winner of the French Competition and the Soundtrack Prize at FIDMarseille 2003, was shown on 7 April at Cinémas Studio, 2 Rue des Ursulines, Tours, France, as part of a programme entitled “L’art contemporain ; que nous dit-il du monde 1. L’image en mouvement” (Contemporary art: what does it tell us about the world? 1. Image in movement).


Akram Zaatari’s Aujourd'hui, winner of the Soundtrack Prize at FIDMarseille 2004, was shown at Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers, Saturday 9 April 2005, in the 14th Côté Court festival in Seine-Saint-Denis.


Carole Sionnet’s Parmi nous, sans papiers, sans visages, sans paroles, which was shown in the French Competition at FIDMarseille 2004, was shown on Monday 11 April at 8:30pm at Cinéma des Cinéastes in Paris, as part of the Images Mouvementées Festival.


Satoshi Ono’s Danchizake (Homemade Sake), winner of the Planète Prize at FIDMarseille 2002, was screened as part of a special series of independent Japanese films during the Elephant Film Festival, 12 to 15 April, in Brussels, Belgium.


Manon de Boer’s Sylvia Kristel-Paris, Winner of the Georges de Beauregard International Prize at FIDMarseille 2004, was screened on Saturday 16 April at 4pm in the Jeu de Paume centre (1, Place de la Concorde 75008 Paris - information : +33 1 47 03 12 50) as part of "Inventaire contemporain III".


Olivier Zabat’s 1/3 des yeux, winner of the French Competition at FIDMarseille 2004, will be screened on Thursday 28 April at 5pm in the Jeu de Paume centre (1, place de la Concorde 75008 Paris - information: +33 1 47 03 12 50) as part of "Inventaire contemporain III".


Mika Ronkainen’s Screaming Men, which won a special award at FIDMarseille 2003, is being released on DVD. It can be ordered via the Internet at:


Simone Bitton’s Mur, winner of the FIDMarseille 2004 Grand Prix, has been released in cinemas in Italy, where two copies are being distributed.
