FIDMarseille goes out of town

The film trade conference on the subject of the documentary as a film prototype – which took place in Marseille on 27 June 2003 – is now producing major responses and repercussions in institutions and structures.
During the second part of the conference organised at the Vendôme Film Festival on 4 December 2003, on the subject of the dissemination of the film prototype, Eric Briat, arts director of the CNC (French National Film Centre), announced that new measures will be taken in his departments. increasing aid for documentaries, eliminating the genre quota for short films, considering all applications for aid irrespective of the type of medium presented, and diversifying the composition of review committees. These measures all reflect the evident forward-looking initiative taken jointly by the FIDMarseille International Documentary Festival and APCVL (the Production Workshop of the Centre Val de Loire region).
At the end of the conference, an agreement was officially signed by Serge Caillet, President of APCVL, and Michel Trégan, chairperson of FIDMarseille (represented by Jean-Pierre Rehm).
This agreement states the aim of sharing expertise and developing inter-regional cooperation to promote documentary films, with FIDMarseille as a programmer and disseminator of documentaries in France, and APCVL as technical expert for the creative arts aid fund of the Regional Council in France’s Centre area.

FIDMarseille is supporting the plan for the creation of a permanent Varan Workshop (Atelier Varan) in Marseille.
Varan workshops are centres for training and production of documentary films, located in many countries around the world.
