name indicates, FIDMarseille remains in Marseilles, and it is thus in Marseilles that
the 17th edition will take place this summer.
This shall in no way keep the
world premieres or French premieres unveiled at the festival from quitting the
port to sail under foreign skies. There is of late a special reason to rejoice,
as a harvest of films selected at the FID are currently playing nationwide. No
less than five releases in the last two months! Hailed by the press for their
demandingness, vitality, and singularity, each of these films boasts the energy
of the documentary genre, each speaks a unique language. The public can thus
benefit from these adventures off the beaten path, adventures all the more
striking in that the majority was produced with the most precarious means, far
from the mainstream’s flotsam of diktats. Avi Mograbi, Olivier Zabat, Peter
Hoffmann, Jacques Kébadian and Joani Hocquenghem, Pierre Creton are the names
of these adventurers, and we thank them for their tenacity.
We also remind
you that the Jeu de Paume in Paris is currently
screening 16 films from the selection of the 16th edition.
Finally, we are
pleased to announce that online inscriptions for the 17th edition
are possible beginning December 19th.
