A STORY FOR THE MODLINS

Sergio OKSMAN

INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE

Spain, 2012, 26’

In the beginning, the ingredients that make the fabric of stories and dramas: the desire to become famous, the creative urge, family, escape, secrets, failure. Then a detour through the diabolical pact of Rosemary’s Baby by Polanski, where success is the bitter price paid for by the birth of a monster. In this way, Sergio Oksman again brings us an offering of fiction inspired by a stock of photographs found by chance. A narrator, linked to a pair of hands that moves the images we see, recounts the story, venturing to explain it. Moving from affirmations via extrapolations, a game of possibilities and probabilities unfolds and of our expectations before what is presented as an album of the Modlins, the family in the title. It unfolds before our very eyes like a double, a family story considered to be true, passed through the (fictitious) filter of its own archives: another monster perhaps? (NF)
