Extérieur Nuit, in Marseille, proposes from November 30 - December 22, 2013 the event Au fil des vagues.

« Des histoires de transmission, une fois encore, et de transmission par le cinéma. Parce que, quand même, le cinéma n’est pas un art comme les autres….Cela veut dire que le cinéma a un rapport original à la filiation, et que quand le rapport s’arrête comme aujourd’hui, il risque bien de s’arrêter aussi et de se retrouver remplacé du jour au lendemain par des images d’un autre pays, par un visuel produit génétiquement.»
Serge Daney L’Exercice a été profitable, Monsieur. Ed. POL.1993

For this event, Extérieur Nuit asked to Jacques Rozier, one of the french founding directors of the Nouvelle Vague, to think about the influences that impressed his films, among Renoir, Lubitsch, Pagnol, Welles, Vigo. And also, on November 30, the symposium "Où en est le cinéma à l'heure du numérique?"

  Bela Tarr

FIDMarseille is happy to invite you, as part of the VideoFID evenings, on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 8 p.m. on its premises a screening of the film TARR BELÀ, I USED TO BE A FILMMAKER by Jean-Marc Lamoure, in First Film Competition, presented in the Parallel Screen "Descriptions de descriptions," shown in a Special Screening with the Conseil Régional Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur in its world premiere at FID 2013. The director will be on hand.

TarrBelaPresentationSS.jpgAïcha Sif, Paul Otchakovsky-Laurens, Fabienne Moris and Jean-Marc Lamoure, before the Special Screening with the Conseil Régional Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

Cult Hungarian filmmaker Belà Tarr, who directed his first feature, Family Nest, in 1977, has decreed that The Turin Horse (2011) shall be his final work. In an involuntary echo, Jean-Marc Lamoure, for his first film, followed this testamentary film shoot. Three characters plus a horse, lost in the middle of a desolate landscape adorned with a windswept shack, that is basically the whole terse argument as there is not much dialogue, as the elements take precedence over human beings, and as, above all, everything here is a matter of shots, duration, careful setting, in other words staging. It is this possibly conclusive adventure that is described here, even if the work leaves no room for melancholy. On the contrary, it is a surprise, even a joy, to discover a helicopter at the edge of the frame with the job of increasing the brutality of the wind in an otherwise peaceful decor. It is a surprise to see a building which might conceivably have been standing there for centuries, being built, rectified, gradually being adjusted to the image of the immutable. It is a surprise to discover that the horse is one of several. These are, of course, the open secrets and tricks of any film shoot. But the world Belà Tarr presents is so solid that we still believe it to be a detached, compact mass of reality itself. And what is more, it is to the harshness of this surrounding reality that his accomplices, actors, and musician confess.
