In an almost empty room, a woman is smoking, sitting in an armchair. She burns her leg several times with her cigarette, for fun. Her lover enters the room and embraces her. They locked themselves in their apartment. Their slow gestures oscillate between tenderness and brutality, in the manner of some silent rituals interrupted with empty landscapes.

Celia Hay was born in 1991 in Marseille where she studied at the School of Art and Design Marseille-Méditerranée. She does photography and video, working between Marseille and Berlin. In 2013, she directed her first film, Mäng. Then, she took part to a residency supervised by Antoine d’Agata at Atelier de Visu. She was finalist at Athens Photo Festival 2013. In 2014, she directed Declivity during a workshop directed by Philippe Grandrieux at Marseille’s School of Art and Design. Then, she took part to an international exchange programm Feldstärke International organized by Pact Zollverein, the Kyoto Art Center and Montevideo. She will study at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London from September 2014.
