The 8th edition of FIDLab ended last night in Marseille.

An International coproduction platform for film projects at any stage of development. FIDLab 2016 selected 11 projects from 14 countries out of more than 370 projects received.

The FIDLab offers time for reflection and work in two stages : the presentation of projects supported by images and sound, followed by one-to-one meetings with professionals.

The jury, Rima Mismar, Deputy Director - Film Programs Manager at Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, Lebanon, Marie-Pierre Vallé - Head of Acquisitions, France, and Paolo Benzi - Producer, founder of Okta Film, Italy, decided to award 7 different in-kind grants provided by the 8 FIDlab's partners :
 
The Panavision / Air France Award goes to :
 
OUROBOROS
by Basma Alsharif, produced by Idioms  Film, IDA.IDA., Momento ! / Palestine – France.

The laureate will receive 10 000€ towards the camera rental on their next shoot. In addition, Panavision is committed to supporting and accompanying all the selected projects, regardless of their original country and the format the shooting may take.
Air France offers two long-distance plane tickets to the prize winners.
 
The Sublimage Award goes to
 
KOMUNISMUS
de Karel Vachek, produced by Background Films and Atelier.doc  / Czech Republic - Slovakia.

The subtitling company Sublimage offers the adaptation and translation of their project in one of the 3 languages of their choice : French, English, Spanish.
 
The Vidéo de Poche Award goes to
 
AKHER WAHED FINA
THE LAST OF US
by Ala Eddine Slim, produced by Exit Productions, Madbox Studios, Inside Productions and SVP / Tunisia.

The post-production company Vidéo de Poche will offer a DCP of the film. It will also offer a special discount for the DCP creation to all the selected projects
 
The Commune Image Award, a post-production company, goes to :

OUROBOROS
by Basma Alsharif, produced by Idioms  Film,  IDA.IDA., Momento ! / Palestine – France.

This prize will allow 8 weeks use of edition facilities to the selected project.
 
The Akademie Schloss Solitude Award goes to :
 
A SHORT FILM FOR THE DEAD
by Daniel Hui, produced by 13 Little Pictures and Primera Idade / Singapore – Portugal.

This prize is a 3-month-residency between April and June 2017.
 
The Camargo Foundation Award goes to

JE SENTAIS QUE MON VISAGE ÉTAIT EN FEU by Nicolas Klotz & Elisabeth Perceval, produced by Shellac Sud and Mata Atlantica / France.

This prize will allow a residency of 4 to 8 weeks.
 
The Mactari Award goes to

JE SENTAIS QUE MON VISAGE ÉTAIT EN FEU by Nicolas Klotz & Elisabeth Perceval, produced by Shellac Sud and Mata Atlantica / France.

This new award will provide a sound editing and/or sound mix studio, without a technician, to the selected project.
 
A particular attention will be paid by the Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur to the FIDLab projects produced or shot in the region.
FIDLab is sponsored by Eurimages, EAVE and supported by the CNC, the City of Marseille, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Regional Council, the General Council of Bouches-du-Rhône.

The Award Ceremony was held at the Villa Méditerranée in the presence of Jean-Pierre Rehm, Head of FIDMarseille, Fabienne Moris, Rebecca De Pas, co-heads of FIDLab and the FIDLab's partners.

Following the success of this eighth edition, the FIDLab organizers are looking forward to meeting you in 2017 !
