Virginie chose the East, working two years for the Molodist Festival in Kiev, where she studied Russian and the Soviet cinema. Back in France, she joined Celluloid Dreams as a sales manager for TV and cinema for three years. Then, she returned to Moscow where she worked for the French embassy developing contacts between Russian and French professionals. In 2007, she joined UMEDIA to help authors carry out their projects and is involved in international sales and coproductions.   Simon Field was Director of Cinema at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts from 1996. He then became director of the International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands until 2004. He is currently a director, along with Keith Griffiths, of the London production company Illuminations Films. They were executive producers of the New Crowned Hope film series, which included films by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Tsai Ming-Liang, Bahman Ghobadi, Mahamat-Saleh Haroun, Garin Nugroho and Paz Encina. They currently have projects with the Quay Brothers, Chris Petit and Raul Ruiz among others.   I started to work at the IFFR in 1979 as part of the team and became the assistant of Hubert Bals (founder of the festival). I left the festival in 1990 to start working at Allarts/ Kasander productions where I did research works and helped with postproduction. In 1993 I started to work as a researcher at VPRO Television for different cultural programs and I came back at the IFFR in 2001 as a program-researcher, responsible for the French selection, member of the Hubert Bals Fund committee.
