As part of the 22nd edition of Instants Vidéos, the FID will screen on its premises from Monday, November 2nd to Friday, November 13, 2009 (except for November 7 and 8) at 12:00 noon Silvia Maglioni and Graeme Thomson’sTHROUGH THE LETTERBOX.
The film will also be screened in the FID premises on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 8 p.m. with the directors present.
THROUGH THE LETTERBOX, a public service screening between Graeme Thomson
& Silvia Maglioni, Marielle Burkhalter and “Fuori Orario.”

The unedited films of Gilles Deleuze’s classes at Vincennes were the point of departure for the film FACS OF LIFE, in International Competition, screened in its worlds premiere at FID 2009. When Silvia Maglioni and Graeme Thomson saw the film programme “FuoriOrario” (directed by Enrico Ghezzi, and where these films were presented for the first timein 2006), they decided to leave Italy and to look for some of Deleuzee’s former students.
Through the Letterbox, specially made for the Instants Vidéo and in association with FIDMarseille, presented longs clips of the original video material from Deleuze’s classes, re-filmed from a television screen and transformed in the “letterbox” format 16/9, thus emphasizing the problematic joining of filmic pedagogy and television.

For the 10th year, the Mois du Film Documentaire (Month of the Documentary Film) makes the month of November the key date for documentary cinema for metropolitan France, its overseas territories and abroad.
You can find the films included in the FID that will be programmed near you by consulting the website.

Le Festival des Cinémas d’Afrique du pays d’Apt (France) will take place this year between November 6 – 11, 2009.
For its 7th edition, the Festival remains faithful to its original orientation: to discover the cinemas of Africa with curiosity, respect and pleasure for the facets of the country it reveals. All film genres are included, from documentary to fiction, often engaging in humor as a filmic and political weapon; the films presented demonstrate the capacity of African filmmakers to speak in universally.
