Born in Amsterdam, Ilse Hughan studied Literature and Translation, and worked for years as a Dutch translator of French and Italian movies. Now she is managing director of Fortuna Films in Amsterdam, a production company for independent film – with a focus on films made in Latin American- that her grandfather Jean Desmet had founded in 1909. She is vice-president of Fundación TyPA, a cultural foundation based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a member of the selection committee of the Hubert Bals Fund (HBF) of the International Film Festival Rotterdam ( IFFR). She is co-founder and co-director of the Buenos Aires Lab (BAL), the co-production market for Latin American film projects within the framework of the BAFICI.
Charles de Meaux is one of those artists for whom the cinema constitutes a major axis of contemporary art, a hotbed of experimentation which provides the possibility to push the boundaries of this creative domain and to build on the question of fiction and pop imagination that are his driving force. In 1997, he founded the production company Anna Sanders Films with Pierre Huygue, Philippe Parreno and Dominique Gonzales- Foerster, thus inventing a fictitious character, a ghost symbolizing an intermediary between cinema and art, a way of freeing himself from the financial restraints of the 7ème art.
Born in 1968, in 1996, he founded the cultural production co-operative, Curtas Metragens, CRL who organizes the Vila do Conde International Short Film Festival. He is one of the Festival´s directors and since 2000 has spearheaded the Portuguese Short Film Agency. In 2005, he joined Sandro Aguilar in the production company, O Som e a Fúria. Lately he produced Our Beloved Month of August by Miguel Gomes (Cannes 2008), Uprise by Sandro Aguilar (Locarno 2008), Ruins by Manoel Mozos (FID Marseille 2009) and The Sword and the Rose by João Nicolau (Venice 2010). Currently he's producing Tabu by Miguel Gomes (shooting), O Gebo e a Sombra, a feature film by Manoel de Oliveira.
